Even before the web, when my roommate and I would listen to the games that weren't on TV, I remember the same effect. You really had to pay attention to understand who was doing what. It made it that much better, and made me feel more knowledgeable, when next I saw them on TV. Notice there's nothing here about seeing the Canucks in person - ticket prices have been out of my league for years ;) Haha, that’s a good point. I listened to the Canucks make it to the Stanly Cup finals on CKNW and when I was away at university and they only played Toronto games in our area, I listened to the Canucks over the web.
