Not to toot my own horn, but I think I’ve got a fairly decent eye for design (I’ve made a decent living with said eye for the past 13 years or so, so that’s gotta be good for something, right?). I get the golden mean, basic principles of alignment and proximity, I love typography, and I understand visual hierarchy. I love to put together layouts and interaction models. I even have fun putting together layouts for ads, brochures and other information pieces.
But gawddammit I hate print production stuff. As a web designer, low resolution and pixel measurements have been my stock in trade. I’ve been designing a CD cover and collateral for my mom’s husband though, and while I’m enjoying the conceptual design, I know the print house is gonna scoff at my PSD files.
*sigh*
